Principal Blog

Dear Parents,

How blest are we to belong to a community such as Visitation! Thank you to everyone for helping to support the Krieger family and coming to Jaden’s fundraiser. The participation of the parish, school, and neighboring communities was truly amazing and inspiring. I think all would agree that it was a wonderful evening of friendship and fun. Please remember to keep Jaden and his family in your prayers.

October is dedicated to the Month of the Rosary, and Thursday, Oct.7th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. On Thursday morning, Visitation School will gather as a community in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary by having an all-school Communion Service at 8:30 A.M. followed by the recitation of the Rosary. If you can, please join us for the Communion Service and Rosary. This is a good time for us to gather as a community to pray for our pastor, Father Scott, for Jaden Krieger, for the safe return of our fifth and sixth grade students from outdoor School, and for other needs we may have.

Next week the 3rd through 8th grade students begin standardized testing with the Iowa Test for Basic Skills (lTBSl). School attendance, sleep, nutrition, and hydration are especially important during the next two weeks. These tests are given for three main purposes:

1. To obtain information that can support instructional decisions made teachers in the classroom.

2. To provide information to students and their parents for monitoring student growth from grade to grade.

3. To share and reflect on this information for improved student learning.

Standardized testing provides us with further data to help your child to succeed academically.

At the end of October, we will be having our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. The conferences will be held Wed., October 27 from 1:00 to 7:30 P.M. and Thurs., October 28 from 8:00 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. Now is the time for parents to be signing up for their family’s conference time. Please use the enclosed form to indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day and time choice for conferences. The staff will make every effort to schedule your conference time as near to your choice as possible. Parent-teacher conferences are very important for a child’s success throughout the remainder of the year.

Thank you for all you do!
