Principal’s Blog

Dear parents,

This week Thursday at 2:30 P.M., we will be celebrating the Feast of Saint Francis with a Blessing of the Animals. Saint Francis reminds us to care for all of God’s creation, and to work peacefully with others. Through the example of Saint Francis, the students are reminded to grow in our School wide Learning Expectation of I respect and appreciate that all people, cultures and the environment are a part of Gods creation. Please join us for the Blessing of the Animals at 2:30 P.M. in the back field behind the main school building. Parents may bring pets for students at this time. Please check with your child’s teacher if you are bringing smaller pets in cages ahead of time. Also students who are not able to bring a pet may bring a picture or stuffed animal to represent their pet.

Each year as part of Visitation Catholic School’s accreditation process through western Catholic Education Association, the school is asked to reflect on a portion of our Catholic Identity. This year we will be reviewing Standard 3: The school uses a Religion curriculum and instruction that is faithful to Roman Catholic teachings, and meets the requirements set forth by the USCCB. The staff asks for your help with our school review. Next week Wednesday and Thursday when parents come for conferences, we ask that you take a few minutes to answer a six question survey about Visitation School’s Catholic Identity. Your input is important to our school and will help us in our process for Improving Student Learning.

Today all parents should be receiving a notice of conference times for next week Wednesday or Thursday. Please contact your child’s teacher if you need to reschedule your conference time. we look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress and goals for the year.

Wednesday, Oct. 27tn, from 10:15 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. will be the class Halloween parties. We will also be having our weekly Mass that day as well. The second grade is hosting the Mass in honor of All Saints. We ask that students come to school in their regular school uniform for Mass. After Mass, students will be able to change into their Halloween costumes. Please remember that no weapons (toy knives, guns, etc.i should be brought to school as part of the costumes. Also makeup involving aerosol sprays is not allowed at school. Students have about 10 minutes to change so costumes need to be simple and easy to put on. We hope that you can join us for both events—Mass and the Halloween party.
