Each year as part of Visitation Catholic School’s accreditation through Western Catholic Education Association the school is asked to reflect on a portion of our Catholic Identity. This year we will be reviewing Standard 1: The school has a mission statement and a philosophy statement which indicate the integration of the Roman Catholic Faith into all aspects of school life and Standard 5: The school maintains an active partnership with parents whose fundamental concern is the spiritual and academic education of their children. The staff asks for your help with our school review. Included with this Wednesday’s folder is the two page parent survey. We ask that you take a few minutes to answer the survey questions about Visitation School’s Catholic Identity. Please return the survey by next week’s parent/teacher conferences, or fill out the survey at the conferences. Your input is important to our school and will help us in our process for Improving Student Learning.
Today all parents should be receiving a notice of conference times for next week Wednesday or Thursday. Please contact your child’s teacher if you need to reschedule your conference time. We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress and goals for the year.
Classroom Halloween Parties will be held on Monday, Oct. 31st, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. As in other years, students will be able to wear their Halloween costumes to school. Please remember that no weapons (toy knives, guns, etc.) should be brought to school as part of the costumes. Also costumes should be modest in appearance, and students need to be able to play outside in them. Any makeup would need to be put on at home. We hope that you can join us for the Halloween Party.
Now that we have settled in from the beginning of the school year, this is a good time to remind everyone of ways to help our after school car pick-up line to continue to run safely and smoothly. We ask parents, grandparents, and others who may be picking up students to please remember to stay in your car and to move forward so that there are no gaps in the line. This helps more cars to stay in the view of the teachers while the students are being picked up. Also for the safety of the students, all drivers should go to the end of the line towards the Parish Center even if a gap occurs. If drivers need to get out of their car, please park across the street or at the Parish Center to do so. We also thank you for remembering to save the reserved parking spaces for the two families that purchased them at the auction. I appreciate your efforts to make the student drop-off and pick-up smooth and safe.
Included in this week’s Wednesday envelope is October’s flyer of At Home with Our Faith. This pamphlet contains helpful information on teaching children about respect and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Both are very important to our school environment and faith.
May God bless you for all you do!
