Thank you for attending the parish breakfast last Sunday. The attendance was great and the seventh and eighth graders served a lot of people. The 7th and 8th grade class appreciates your support of their 8th grade retreat and other class activities. We thank Sheila VanGrunsven, the Schmidlkofer Family, and the other helpers for organizing the cooking and the dish cleaning and for providing us with a fabulous breakfast.
One of the most common Schoolwide Learning Expectations (SLEs) that students at Visitation Catholic School receive is “I actively provide community service to others.” Many events throughout the school year allow students, teachers and parents the opportunity to actively provide service to others locally, nationally and globally. Our current service project is collecting metal tabs (pop, soup and others) for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Money received from the collected tabs will help provide temporary housing to families of children who are hospitalized due to serious illness. I encourage everyone to bring in as many tabs a possible so we can reach our school goal of 80 lbs. We will be collecting tabs for our school competition through Thursday, February 2nd. I thank you for your support of this special project. Service projects help our students to become caring, contributing and responsible citizens.
If you have a preschooler for next year’s 3 or 4 year old program, it is time for current parents and parishioners to enroll. Our current preschool program is full, so we want to provide an opportunity for current parents and parishioners to register for the 2012-2013 school year before opening enrollment to others. We ask that current parents and parishioners register their preschooler and pay the registration fee of $65 by February 17th after which time preschool registration will be open to all. Please also know that our current three year olds will have the first opportunity to move into the four year old program after which time openings will be filled with other applicants. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by the office or to give me a call.
May God bless you today and always!
Carol Funk, Principal
