Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our Geography Bee finalists! Alex Funk received first place in the Championship Round and Ashley Cook came in second. Alex will now take a written test to qualify for the State Geography Bee. All of the student performed very well and showed off their wide knowledge of geography.

It seems winter has decided to come all at once this week! I always find it so calming and peaceful to watch the snow fall. During this time, we need to be   prepared for weather related school closures. Visitation Catholic School follows the Forest Grove School District for weather related closures, but our Emergency Contact System, SchoolReach, is used to back up their decision and for any other emergencies or notices that may occur. On Tuesday and Wednesday morning, Visitation School completed a phone notification using our Emergency Contact System. Every family should have received a phone call indicating that school was delayed on Tuesday and closed on Wednesday. If you did not receive a phone call or a message, please contact the school secretary so that the numbers in the system can be verified.

Our on-going service project for the month of January is pop tab collections for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington. Money received from the collected tabs (pop, soup, and other tabs) will help provide  temporary housing to families of children who are hospitalized due to serious  illness. Students have until Thursday, February 2nd, to collect and bring in the tabs for our contest. The school goal is for 80 lbs. of tabs to be collected.

Catholic Schools Week is coming quickly. We hope you and your guests can join us for Special Friends and Grandparents Day on Wednesday, February 1st. We will be having Mass hosted by Visitation Alumni at 8:30 am in the morning,   special activities for students, parents and their guests from 9:15 am to 10:00 am in the Parish Center, a school performance at 10:30 am, and then lunch with our Special Friends and Grandparents at 11:15 am. As in other years, students bring lunch for their special guests if not already ordered. Cake and coffee is provided for all after lunch. The students look forward to sharing these activities with you and their guests. We hope you can join us!

Thank you for your support of Visitation Catholic School!
