Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,

This Friday, February 17th, is a half day of school with dismissal at 11:30 am. The teachers will be working on math curriculum mapping for the accreditation process.

If you have a preschooler for next year’s 3 or 4 year old program, it is time for current parents and parishioners to enroll your preschooler for the 2012-2013 school year. After February 17th, we will be opening registration to all families. Our morning 4’s preschool for next year is full so we are opening an afternoon 4’s program for the 2012-2013 year.

We are beginning the final preparations for the Rummage Sale. This is when families are most needed to complete their four hours of volunteer service towards this event. A Rummage Sale calendar has been included with this newsletter to help assist families with the planning of times to complete their four hours. Not only did the Rummage Sale provide over $12,000 to our school last year, but it provides a community service to the surrounding area. Many families rely on the Rummage Sale yearly for needed family supplies. We look forward to your participation in this community event that supports our school.

On Thursday, February 23rd, all are invited to attend the Visitation School      Science Fair. Each grade, kindergarten through eighth, has either group or individual student projects for parents and guests to enjoy. The 5th through 8th grade student experiments are judged earlier in the day and the results can be viewed at the science fair. The science fair is open for guests from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm and from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. We are short on science fair judges this year. It seems to be a busy day for the Pacific University students who usually help us with judging. If you or someone you know could help with judging, please email me or call the school office. Any help with judging would be appreciated to offer students the opportunity to present their experiments.

Next Wednesday, February 22nd, is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. We will be having an all school Mass at 8:30 am that morning. I hope you can join us for Mass as this is a perfect way to begin the season of Lent.

May God bless you!

Carol Funk, Principal
