Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Thank you to the many parents, parishioners and students that helped to make the Rummage Sale so successful! We especially thank and congratulate our chairs Chris Duyck, Karen Duyck, Steve Klopcic, Deena Lizardo, and Gilbert Luna for a fantastic job. This year the Rummage Sale made over $12,300! I appreciate your help and effort towards this fundraiser. This event benefits our school and community in so many ways. The teachers found new items for their classrooms, and many people from the community came to shop for needed items. The monies earned from the Rummage Sale will go to the Parents’ Club budget which helps to pay for student activities such as fieldtrip costs, music, art, PE equipment, library supplies, and much more. I thank you for giving your time towards this worthwhile event.

The final numbers have been tallied for our school fundraiser, Heifer International. The students were able to collect $1,890.06 for this project. With this money, the students chose to buy a water buffalo, heifer, sheep, flock of geese, two flocks of chicks, four trios of rabbits, a goat, a knitter’s gift basket, and a share of a milk menagerie. These animals are given by Heifer International to families in need to increase their family income through the sale of milk, wool, eggs, etc. For many families, the increase in income makes it possible for their children to attend school. Thank you for making this Lenten service project so successful!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the success of Visitation Catholic School’s 6th Annual Appeal. We were able to meet and exceed our goal of $15,000 by receiving $16,250 in donations! The Annual Appeal will help Visitation to continue its tradition of offering a strong academic foundation for all students and tuition assistance for families. We thank you for your support!

Congratulations to the St. Francis/Visitation CYO basketball teams! The boys and girls teams have been competing in tournaments the last few weeks and have been very successful. In the Gold division the 3/4th grade girls were 1st place, the 5th grade boys 3rd place, the 6th grade boys 1st place, the 7th grade boys 2nd place, and the 8th grade boys 2nd place. We can support our CYO sports teams by attending the CYO Fish Fry Dinner fundraiser this Friday, March 16th, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Visitation Parish Center.

The end of the second trimester has come. Report cards will be sent home with students next week on Wednesday. Everyone is invited to the end of trimester awards ceremony on Thursday, March 22nd, at 2:45 P.M. in the gym. We hope you can join us to celebrate the learning of our students!

I wish you a blessed week!

 Carol Funk, Principal
