Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,

On Monday, the students enjoyed a presentation through the Talk About Trees program. The goal of this program is to help students to learn about the different types of trees in Oregon, the parts of a tree, the different uses of a tree, and how we can effectively manage our forests. The program facilitator brought many tree samples and products for the students to view and handle. After Spring Break, the students will experience part two of the Talk About Tree program with a tree walk to identify and learn from the trees on our school campus.

On Saturday, the D.C. Kids will be flying out for a week in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York. I will be joining the D.C. Kids on their trip this year. Please know that during Spring Break I will not be available to check emails. Thank you for your support and generous donations to the D.C. Kids. Please keep the students and parent chaperones in your prayers that they may have a safe and enjoyable trip full of learning.

This Friday the seventh and eighth graders will be competing at the Northwest Science Expo at Portland State University. This is an opportunity for the students to share their science fair projects and to work on their public speaking skills. The Visitation Students will be competing against more than three hundred students from middle schools located in Oregon and Southwest Washington. We wish them the best!

This week we have begun our second Lenten Service Project of collecting food for the Oregon Food Bank. Students can bring food items to their classroom now through the end of Holy Week after Spring Break. The goal is for each classroom to fill at least two of the boxes provided by Oregon Food Bank.

The school auction is quickly approaching. Please remember to keep looking for items to donate to the auction over the next few weeks. You can bring your donation, during this time to the school/convent basement auction table. Our goal would be to make more than the $52,000 earned last year which we can do with more donations.

Report cards will be sent home today with your child, Wednesday, March 21st.

I wish you a blessed week and a safe Spring Break!

Carol Funk, Principal
