Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

It is wonderful to see the excitement on the students’ faces as they begin a new school year. The first week of school has flown by!

I would like to invite parents to come the Visitation Back-to-School Night this evening from 6:30 pm-7:45 pm. I encourage all parents to take this opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, hear about the curriculum, grading, and homework policies for the upcoming year, and learn about ways to be involved in your child’s education. We will begin the evening in the gym and then rotate through three repeated sessions in each classroom. This will allow time for parents with more than one child to meet with teachers in each room. We hope you can join us!

Thank you for remembering to save the reserved parking spaces for the two families that purchased them at the auction. I appreciate your efforts to make the student drop-off and pick-up smooth and safe, and remembering to also walk students across the road. I want to remind parents not to drop off students in the morning until after 8:00 am unless you plan to use the Knight’s Club Before School Care. No other supervision is available before this time so students need to remain in parent care or attend Knight’s Club.

Starting next week, we are beginning a First Lego League Robotics Club for students ages 9-14. The club will meet every Friday starting on Sept. 21st from 3:30 pm-5:15 pm and will end in mid-December with entry into the local tournament. The Lego Robotics Club gives students the opportunity to build teamwork, to work on a project to solve a problem, and to build and program a robot to accomplish missions set by the tournament. I will be the coach for the team with parent advisors. The registration fee for the Lego Robotics Club is $50 per student this year. Limited scholarships are available. Please call the school office or send a note with your child to register. The registration deadline is September 20th.

Thank you to all for helping start the school year out so well. This Saturday is our first pre-dinner event of applesauce making. We could use many helpers for this event. Hope to see you there.

May God bless you for all you do!

Carol Funk, Principal
