Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your attendance at the Back-to-School Night last week. It was very exciting to see the large number of parents that were able to attend. Your dedication to your child’s education is much appreciated.

At the Back-to-School Night, I spoke briefly about the Call to Protect program. This is a child safety program required by the Archdiocese for all parents and parishioners that would like to volunteer in the school. The first year of volunteering requires a simple background check, viewing a 40 minute Call to Protect video, and reading the on-line video Standards of Conduct. After the first year, there is a yearly follow-up video to view online. We value our volunteers very much. Without volunteers in the school, many of our classroom activities, fieldtrips, and extracurricular programs would not be possible. The teachers and staff appreciate your time given to completing these three steps needed to volunteer at  Visitation, and we are very grateful for your support in the classroom. Please see the secretary for forms, information on the Call to Protect video, or fieldtrip driver insurance verification forms.

This year, we are continuing to receive the monthly flyer called At Home with Our Faith. This flyer contains helpful information on how to teach our children about faith. Some of the information reminds us of our own faith and some articles give tips on passing on faith to our children. The flyer also gives useful information on helping students to be successful in school. Please see the enclosed flyer in this week’s Wednesday envelope.

Picture Day is Tuesday, September 25th this year. Again this year, students will be allowed to dress up (Formal Day) or to wear their school uniforms on picture day. What would this look like?—dress pants, dress shirts or blouses, dresses, ties. What would this not look like?—no jeans, sweatpants, T-shirts, etc. Our goal is to give parents variety in their pictures, but at the same time for students to represent Visitation Catholic School in a positive way.

Thank you to all the parishioners and parents that helped with applesauce making on Saturday. We had record breaking volunteer attendance with over 50 helpers! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! The pre-dinner events are vitally important to the success of the dinner and all help is greatly appreciated. Also this Saturday, Sept. 22nd is the Sauerkraut making party. Please support our school by helping us to have many volunteers for the sauerkraut making.

May God bless you!

Carol Funk, Principal
