Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,

October is dedicated to the Month of the Rosary, and Oct. 7th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, the students of Visitation Catholic School will be going on a fieldtrip the morning of Tuesday, October 9th, to see the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The statue is on display at St. Matthew Parish. Our students will be able to attend Mass at 9:15 am with the St. Matthew students followed by a presentation by the statue’s custodian. All parents are welcome to meet us at St. Matthew Church for Mass and the presentation. Due to the fieldtrip and Mass on Tuesday, Spirit Day for the Visitation students will be moved to Wednesday, Oct. 10th.

The third through eighth grade students of Visitation are in the middle of standardized testing both this week and next. During this time, homework will usually be lighter. Parents can help students to do their best on these tests by making sure students receive adequate sleep, nutrition, and hydration. The results of the standardized tests are important for helping teachers and parents to monitor student growth. Teachers also use this information to support instructional decisions for the remainder of the year.

At the end of October, we will be having our Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. The conferences will be held Wed., October 24 from 1:00 to 7:30 P.M. and Thurs., October 25 from 8:00 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. Now is the time for parents to be signing up for their family’s conference time. Please use the enclosed form to indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day and time choice for conferences. The staff will make every effort to schedule your conference time as near to your choice as possible. Parent-teacher conferences are very important for a child’s success throughout the remainder of the year.

Thank you for all you do!

Carol Funk, Principal
