Each year as part of Visitation Catholic School’s accreditation through Western Catholic Education Association the school is asked to reflect on a portion of our Catholic Identity. This year we will be reviewing Standard 6: The school helps students develop a service-oriented outreach to the Church and civic community after the example of Jesus who said, “I have given you an example so that you may copy what I have done to you.” (John 13:15) The staff asks for your help with our school review. Included with this Wednesday’s folder is the one page parent survey. We ask that you take a few minutes to answer the survey questions about Visitation School’s Catholic Identity. Please return the survey as soon as possible. Your input is important to our school and will help us in our process for Improving Student Learning.
In last week’s newsletter, forms were sent home for parents to sign up for parent-teacher conferences. Thank you to the many parents that have already returned this form. Today the teachers will be scheduling conferences at the staff meeting. Times for student conferences will be sent home in next week’s Wednesday envelope. Conferences are very important for student success. They are a time for parents and teachers to meet and discuss a child’s achievements and goals for the year.
Now that we have settled in from the beginning of the school year, this is a good time to remind everyone of ways to help our after school car pick-up line run safely and smoothly. We ask parents, grandparents, and others who may be picking up students to please remember to stay in your car and to move forward so that there are no gaps in the line. This helps more cars to stay in the view of the teachers while the students are being picked up. Also for the safety of the students, all drivers should go to the end of the line towards the Parish Center even if a gap occurs. If drivers need to get out of their car, please park across the street or at the parish center to do so. We also thank you for remembering to save the reserved parking spaces for the two families that purchased them at the auction. I appreciate your efforts to make the student drop-off and pick-up smooth and safe.
At Visitation Catholic School we have been blessed by our many volunteers. We appreciate the parents, grandparents, and parishioners who have viewed the Called to Protect and Standards of Conduct videos and have taken the simple background check needed to volunteer with students at Visitation. This is a child safety program required by the Archdiocese for all parents and parishioners that would like to volunteer in the school. We value our volunteers very much. Without volunteers in the school, many of our classroom activities, fieldtrips, and extracurricular programs would not be possible. If you are available to be a volunteer at Visitation, please contact the secretary for the needed form and information on the Called to Protect program.
May God bless you for sharing your time and talent with Visitation Catholic School!
